Lynn wins 8th of Season, Cards pound Atlanta 8-2 on Memorial Day

Lance Lynn pitched seven innings and won his eighth game of the year as the Cardinals won 8-2 in Atlanta on Memorial Day. Lynn and Phillies pitcher Cole Hammels both won their games today to become baseball’s first eight game winners. For Lynn his seven innng start was highlighted by eight strikeouts. Lynn also avenged his only loss of the season, coming at the hands of the Braves earlier this month.

On offense, rookie first baseman Matt Adams continues to shine. Adams had three more hits and drove in three runs to pace the Cardinals 14 hit attack. Daniel Descalso and Rafael Furcal homered for the Cards as they won their second game in a row.

Cincinnati lost to Pittsburgh today, so their lead over the Cardinals in the NL Central division is down to just a half game.
