(KTVI) - Illinois Democrats are suddenly finding themselves scrambling to find a new candidate for Congress this fall.  Brad Harriman was running to succeed retiring Congressman Jerry Costello, but he suddenly ended his campaign for medical reasons.

He says he has a neurological condition and needs surgery now.

The Democratic Party chairs from the 12 counties in the district will select a replacement candidate.  Congressman Costello again says he's not running.

Republican Jason Plummer wished Harriman the best, and said his thoughts and prayers were with his former opponent and his family.
