Donald Malchow left Madison, Wisconsin a week ago Wednesday. Despite the major Midwest heat wave, he pedaled from St. Mary's Hospital in Madison to St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis. That's 500 miles.
This was all for his best friend and father, Mike Malchow, who has Parkinson's disease. Mike Malchow was diagnosed in 2006 with the degenerative disease which affects the central nervous system and gets progressively worse. It is also a biological disease.
Donald Malchow will be taking donations for Parkinson's at the SSM St. Mary's Health Center this Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. - noon.
Bring the kids because he will talk with the children about his trip and give away free bike helmets and helmet safety checks for toddlers through 10 years old.
He will also be available, along with medical experts, at the SSM Neurosciences Institute table to share his story with people living with Parkinson's disease.
