Cardinals Break Losing Streak, Beat Mets 5-4

The Cardinals are back on the winning side of things with a 5-4 win on Monday afternoon over the Mets in New York. The victory ends the Cardinals season high five game losing streak.

Allen Craig had two hits and three RBI. The big hit was Craig’s two run home run in the 8th inning that broke a 3-3 tie. Marc Rzepczynski got the win in relief despite giving up a game tieing home run in the 7th inning to the Mets Scott Hairston. Jason Motte got four outs to earn his 9th save of the season.

Kyle Lohse gave the Cardinals a quality start with six innings pitched and only one run allowed.

Next up for the Cardinals is a three game series at Houston against the Astros that will finish the team’s ten game road trip. The Cardinals return to Busch Stadium on Friday night to start a series with the Cleveland Indians.
