Caseyville Officer Injured in Crash in St. Louis City

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A Caseyville, Illinois police officer has been injured in an accident in St. Louis Cit just before noon.  He was pursuing a suspects  into the city when he crashed into a bridge abutment near the intersection of 10th and Madison Avenue.

The police car was mangled and the airbag deployed in the crash.  The officer was taken to Saint Louis University Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

The suspect the officer was pursuing got away. The officer was chasing them because they just stole armfuls of jeans from Buckle store in the St. Clair Square Mall. Now police in Fairview Heights are looking for two suspects who were caught on camera.  Police say the suspects fled in a white Chevy Monte Carlo.
