(KTVI) – The St. Louis Rams are coming off the field and hitting the pavement.  The Rams organization along with Competitor Group, Inc. will host a new 7K running event to start off the 2012 NFL season.  The run will take place Sunday, September 9.

“Back to Football 7K” race participants will get a ticket to one of three Rams games of their choice including games against the Redskins (Sept. 19), the Seattle Seahawks (Sept. 30), or the Arizona Cardinals (Oct. 4).

There will also be a NFL “Play 60” half mile run for kids.

The Rams say the run is all to promote health and benefit a good cause.

“The Back to Football 7K will allow us to engage our fans, promote health and wellness and benefit a tremendous charity,” said Rams V.P. Brian Killingsworth.  “We’re looking forward to a successful event for the St. Louis community.”

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge.

The race will start and finish at the Edward Jones Dome. Runners will also get a “Rams 7K” running shirt. Registration is now open.  Get more information at Rams.com
