Fair St. Louis Events Canceled Due To Storm Threat
DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS (KTVI)- The threat of storms brought an early end to what had been a sweltering day at Fair St. Louis. Saturday main attraction, country music star Dierks Bentley, played only three songs following a rain delay. Organizers then cancelled the rest of the show and the fireworks and ordered the fairgrounds evacuated due to extensive lightning in the area.
Dierks Bentley knew fan would be disappointed. He sent this message via Twitter:
To which Fair St. Louis replied on the social media site:
Fair St. Louis planned ahead for bad weather, with new warning signs added at each fair entrance this year. In the wake of the deadly tent collapse near Busch Stadium in the spring, the signs directed fair goers to avoid seeking shelter from storms under trees or in tents. Last year’s collapse of a stage super structure at the Indiana State Fair also prompted a review of safety measures with temporary structures here in St. Louis.
Fair St. Louis invites everyone to the upcoming Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts at Soldiers Memorial.
