GRAFTON, IL. (KPLR) - Developers hoping to build an Asian Carp processing plant in Grafton could soon get taxpayer help.  The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has approved almost two million dollars for the project, but it must pass a federal review first.

It includes a $1.4 million low-interest loan to American Heartland Fish Products. The remaining money is meant for infrastructure improvements related to the plant.

Asian Carp are an invasive species that have migrated up the Mississippi and Illinois rivers, but are prized delicacies in China.
