FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KTVI)-- A fifty percent cut in bus transportation funding in Illinois is now being felt at the local school district level.

Parents in the Grant School District 110 in Fairview Heights found out this week, bus service has been cancelled for students living less than a mile and a half from their school building.

School begins in three weeks and that presents a problem for families who don't want their children walking to school.

Students who face physical hazards like no sidewalks will still be allowed to ride a bus.
