BOND COUNTY, IL (KTVI)-A mother and her two children were killed Thursday night when the car they were traveling in was struck from behind on I-70 in Bond County, IL. Suzette Lee, 41, was traveling eastbound on the interstate when a witness said she slowed down because a deer was crossing the roadway. When a second deer appeared, Lee stopped completely.

A tractor trailer traveling in the same lane as Lee was unable to stop in time. The semi struck the vehicle from behind.

Lee and her two children, Lillian, 8, and Vivian, 6, all ove Mulberry Grove, IL, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, a 40 year old man who is from Union, MO, suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Suzette Lee was wearing a seat belt. It is unknown if her children were belted in. Illinois State Police continue to look into the crash.
