St. Louis Co. Officer Earns National DARE Honor

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) – A St. Louis County police officer is the national 012 DARE Officer of the Year.

Officer Kathy Kelly received the award Wednesday from DARE America at a ceremony in Atlanta. The DARE program encourages school children to avoid drugs, gangs and violence.

Kelly joined the St. Louis County department in 1985 and has been a DARE officer since 1991. She was named Missouri’s DARE officer of the year in 2008.
