Cubs rookie Anthony Rizzo homered off Cardinals rookie pitcher Trevor Rosenthal to give the Cubs a 4-2 walk off win in 10 innings on Sunday at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The win gives the Cubs the series with Chicago winning two of the three games played this weekend in the famed rivalry series.

It was the same old story for the CardinalsĀ  in this game, leaving men on base. 10 Cardinals were stranded on the bases in this loss. The Cubs built an early 2-0 lead off Adam Wainwright. But Waino settled down and pitched six innings allowing just the two runs. The Cardinals eventually tied the game on Tyler Green’s 7th inning sacrifice fly and Carlos Beltran’s solo home run in the 8th inning. But Rizzo’s seventh home run of the season was the difference.

The loss drops the Cardinals seven and a half games out of first place in the NL Central. The Reds won their tenth straight game beating Colorado 7-2. The Cardinals are off on Monday before opening a three game series against the Rockies in Colorado on Tuesday.
