(KTVI) - It's always nerve-wracking for both parents and students when it's the first day of kindergarten and they have to ride the big yellow school bus.

The Parkway School District is trying to ease the fears of students by offering a bus safety program for kindergarten students prior to the first day of school.

Bus driver Rick Heidiger and his side-kick Buster talk with John Pertzborn and Angie Mock about how the sessions help teach students about bus safety and prepares them for the first day of school.

Session information:

Presentations are approximately 15-20 minutes long and then students take a 10-minute ride on a school bus around the neighborhood.
