ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Following an error and being booed by Cardinals fans after Wednesday’s game against the Giants, infielder Tyler Greene was traded to the Houston Astros.  The Cardinals made the announcement before Thursday’s game against Giants.

The trade was made for a player to be named later or cash considerations.  Greene, 28, hit four home runs this season, had 19 RBI’s and nine stolen bases.

In Spring Training, Greene appeared to be the leading candidate for second base, but as the season progressed, he saw less and less playing time.  A first round pick by the Cardinals, many fans have been frustrated as he failed to reach projected potential.

After Wednesday’s game, Cardinals fans booed when the announcer called his name as a starter. They booed even more when he booted a potential double-play ball during the game.

The Cardinals lost 13 – 0 .
