EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. (KTVI) – You Paid For It investigates a terrible flooding problem in a Metro East Community.  Homeowners having sewage back up in their basements whenever it rains. They complained to East St. Louis City Officials about it time and again, yet nothing has been done to solve the problem.

We found people struggling to clean up nasty basements after a recent water main break sent sewage into basement. Residents say they're overwhelmed by the mess, and angry that so far their pleas are falling on deaf ears at City Hall.

Investigator Elliott Davis catches up with Mayor Alvin Parks to explain what's going to be done to solve this terrible problem. He says money is keeping the city from solving it, but he promises he will take action to help them.

Residents however will have to put up with the flooded basements at least another 5 months or so while the city tries to figure out where to get the money. Hear resident’s heartbreaking story on You Paid For It.
