JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – A national conservative group has issued ratings of Missouri state lawmakers for the first time.

The American Conservative Union has been rating members of Congress on a conservative-to-liberal scale for decades. The group in recent years has begun rating state legislators in some battleground states. It released its first ratings for Missouri on Wednesday.

The organization scores lawmakers based on their votes on various pieces of legislation.

Republican Sens. Jim Lembke of St. Louis and Brian Nieves of Washington were the only senators to get a perfect score from the conservative group. Eleven House members got a 100 percent conservative ranking.

The group gave Democratic Sens. Maria Chappelle-Nadal and Robin Wright-Jones of St. Louis perfect liberal rankings. Twenty-two House members got a “true liberal” rating from the conservative group.
