Two Police Chases End in Arrests

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  A police chase that involved a man trying to run over a police officer was just one of two overnight chases.  It happened early Friday morning in Des Peres, MO, but when through cities on both sides of the Mississippi River.

St. Louis police say it started around 1:30 a.m. at Kingshighway and Winona when the driver tried to back over an officer during a traffic stop.  He drove into Illinois and back into St. Louis City.

Officers took out at tire with spike strips but the driver kept going into West St. Louis County. By the end of the chase, speeds had topped 75 miles per hour, at least 10 departments, including St. Louis City and County and Richmond Heights were involved.   A man and his female passenger were arrested.

In north St. Louis, several cars got smashed at the end of one chase.  Around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a suspect led police on a chase up Martin Luther King Drive. It finally ended just west of Kingshighway in front of Sherman Park.  Eight cars were smashed in the incident.
