COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) - Letitia Hunt told FOX 2 News she is the victim of a scam involving a dating website and the military.

She met someone who called himself "Marcus" on that site, "He said he was stationed in Afghanistan and I am a veteran, so that really started our connection.”

The two exchanged hundreds of emails and eventually "Marcus" told Hunt he needed several hundred dollars to maintain his internet connection, "That was the only way for us to talk, so I sent it to him.”

Eventually, Hunt learned that "Marcus" did not exist, "They were fake pictures and it was just a scam.”

Hunt shared her story to make sure no one else falls victim to a similar scam, "I just don't want anyone else to get tricked.”
