ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The Cardinals are replacing Jaime Garcia with right-handed pitcher Shelby Miller.  Garcia is being taken out because of  left rotator cuff strain and inflammation.

The division Series substitution has been approved by Major League Baseball.  Postseason rules dictate that substitutions for injuries must be approved by the Commishioner’s office.   This disqualifies Garcia’s return in the National League Championship Series.  He will, however be eligible for World Series play.
