IMPERIAL, MO (KTVI) - Two high schools that are rivals on the field will come together on Thursday night to remember the life of a freshman who unexpectedly died on Tuesday.

Seckman and Fox High Schools will pause for a moment of silence before their scheduled playoff game at 7pm to remember Jake Siebert.

The superintendent of the district said Siebert was a good student who was well liked and loved football and lacrosse.

Allyson Duffin is a Seckman graduate who was stinging from the loss.

"It happened so fast and out of the blue," said Duffin.  "He's so young and had a promising football career and now he's gone."

Some parents contacted FOX 2 wanting to know more answers about how Siebert died.  Some students have said he was injured playing football last week and did not attend class or practice on Monday.

The school superintendent said Siebert did not report any injury to his coach and that a cause of death would not be known until an autopsy is completed.

She says a family member contacted the school district on Wednesday to inform them that Siebert has passed away.

The district notified students and sent a letter to parents informing them that counselors are available to help anyone struggling with their grief.
