ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Around 1,000 people lined up in north St. Louis to ask for help with their energy bills.  They waited for hours before Heat Up St. Louis opened the energy assistance resource fair Thursday morning.

State Representative Jamilah Nasheed asked everyone to be patient, while volunteers inside the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ and Girls’ Club worked quickly to help those dealing with low incomes and huge heating bills.

Organizers say the need for help is growing each winter.
