ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO. (KTVI) – Jay Nixon and the republican running for Missouri Governor, Dave Spence, will square off Friday night in a debate, except Nixon won't be there.

Instead, Bill Randles will play the part of Nixon when the issues are debated at St. Charles Community College.

Randles, ran against Spence in the primary, and is now Spence’s senior policy advisor.

Spence wants to confront Nixon, but the St. Louis businessman says Nixon turned down requests to debate; only agreeing to one last month sponsored by the Missouri Press Association.
