Cardinals Name Mabry As Hitting Coach, Ilsley Bullpen Coach

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Cardinals announced the team’s 2013 coaching staff on Monday.  As was hinted at last week, Mark McGwire will not be back as hitting coach next season.  The team has promoted John Mabry, McGwire’s assistant, to Hitting Coach.

Blaise Ilsley, pitching coach the Cardinals Triple-A team in Memphis, has been named Bullpen Coach.

The team has extended offers to Pitching Coach Derek Lilliquist, Bench Coach Mike Aldrete, Third Base Coach Jose Oquendo,  and First Base Coach Chris Maloney to return in their current positions

A successor to Mabry as the team’s Assistant Hitting Coach has not yet been named.
