ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The future of Saint Louis University President Father Lawrence Biondi will be on the table Tuesday at an emergency meeting of the Faculty Senate.  The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. and normally secretive university trustees have been invited to attend.

Both the Faculty Senate and Student Government have voted 'no confidence' in Biondi.  Father Biondi has lead the University since 1987 but has come under increasing scrutiny.

Faculty members are upset over tenure and personnel decisions. Critics say Biondi interferes in academics, hires and fires administrators at will and has tried to eliminate tenure for professors.  Students and others held a protest against Biondi just a couple of weeks ago.

Biondi's supporters say the University has grown and flourished under his leadership and a blue ribbon panel has been established to review controversial issues.  It could be significant that the trustees have been invited to attend the meeting because the trustees are ultimately the ones who will decide whether or not Biondi stays or goes.

We'll see what happens later today.
