ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – Tuesday the You Paid For It Team examines a commuting allowance for Lambert Airport workers that no other city employees get.  Lambert workers get $280 a month to get back and forth to work. The Airport pays $1.7 Million Dollars to provide this benefit.

Lambert says it does it to attract workers to the Airport because they have to live in the city.

But workers don't have to justify how they spend the money and they Airport doesn't check.

Lambert has been hit hard by a drop in flights over the years as Airlines have cut back.

Last month it floated the idea of doubling parking fees at the Airport lots to raise money.

This commuting allowance has been in place since the 60's.
