MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. (KTVI) – A man said he found dozens of Ku Klux Klan flyers on car windshields at Westport Plaza on Tuesday.

He said he even found one on his car. He did not want to be identified.

"I grabbed it and turned it over and was shocked and frankly disgusted by the content," he said.

He called the Maryland Heights Police Department, but distributing the flyers is not illegal.

"It is a freedom of speech issue," Chief Thomas O'Connor said. "No matter how ridiculous it is."

FOX2 called Westport Plaza for comment, but as of Wednesday night officials there had not responded.

The man who said he found the flyers said he believes KKK literature should not be protected under freedom of speech.

"At some point you have to realize that this is hatred," he said.
