CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI)-- Drug sniffing dogs in local schools is the plan on the agenda in Chesterfield tonight.

The Parkway School District is discussing whether or not to use the dogs at their high schools.

And the big question here tonight is whether or not to join more than a dozen other districts in the county inviting drug dogs in to sniff lockers.

You see police dogs in all sorts of places, and one of their biggest uses is finding drugs.  County police have been asked to bring dogs into schools for some time, but to this point, Parkway has never joined the program.

Tonight they're talking about making that change.  Police say the program uses them as a tool for the schools.  No arrests are made unless the individual school makes that request.  This is how it works.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 tonight, and of course we'll have full coverage on FOX 2 News at 9.
