Despite Injuries, Firefighters Rescue Driver After Crash

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A fire truck and a car crashed head on in Lake St. Louis Friday night.  It happened just after 9:00pm on the I-70 south service road at Lake St. Louis Boulevard.  Three firefighters on the truck were injured.  Despite that, they still rushed to the aid of the driver of the car, who was trapped.

Lake St. Louis Fire Department spokesperson Scott Avery said, they actually got out of the truck, the three injured firefighters did, and started extricating the victim of the car.”

The car's driver was airlifted to a hospital. There is no word on that driver's condition.  All three firefighters also want to a hospital.  Their injuries were not serious.  One has since been released. 

An accident reconstruction team is looking into what led to the accident.
