Suspect Arrested In Granite City Fatal Hit & Run

GRANITE CITY, IL (KTVI)- Granite City Police have made an arrest in the death of a pedestrian whose body was found along IL Route 3. Passing motorists found the body of Shari Watts, 50, of East Alton on Saturday morning.

Watts was in the Brooklyn area Friday night and had been looking for a ride home. The hit-and-run accident that killed Watts likely happened several hours before her body was found.

Gabrelle Parent of Granite City has been arrested in the case.  She has been charged with one felony count of failure to report an accident involving death.  Bond is set at $30,000. She will be transferred to the Madison County Jail.
