(KTVI) - A young man is dead after being shot in South St. Louis. Police know very little about the shooter or the victim.  That's why police are asking for the public's help.

Police got the call for help just before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday. When officers got to Bates Street and Louisiana Avenue, they found a black man in his mid 20s who had been shot several times.

Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital but he passed away shortly after arriving.  Witnesses could not give a very clear description of the suspect, but did say the suspect was wearing all black and was driving a white SUV.

Police are hoping someone can help them figure out who the victim is and who the suspect is. If you have any information on the shooting at Bates and Louisiana, contact the St. Louis City Police at 314-231-1212.
