FREEBURG, IL (KTVI) – A three-alarm fire virtually destroyed a Freeburg, Illinios home Thursday. The blaze started in the basement, according to firefighters. The fire was reported around 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the 8300 block of Peabody Road.

A married couple and four pets lived in the home. One cat is missing. One cat and two dogs were rescued, as were the couple.

"Those are her babies," the victim's sister in-law Amy Dunlap said. "She loves them to death."

The cat is named Sunny.

"She really has always had cats and dogs and loves them," Dunlap explained.

Firefighters do not know what caused the fire.

The inside of the house is destroyed.
