ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the entire FOX 2 viewing area for Monday and Monday night.  A winter storm will affect the region in two waves. Snow begins this morning after 8:00am. It tapers off to flurries, drizzle, and some spotty sleet in the afternoon. Then look for another round of moderate snow starting Monday evening.

Storm totals on average to 1″ to 3″ across the area. Temperatures will be very borderline throughout the daytime hours of Monday and mixed precipitation will affect final snow totals.

Snow looks to be falling as we ring in 2013. As the light snow ends Monday night, it could change back to some freezing drizzle and result in a very thin, but very slick icy glaze in spots.  Be careful traveling on area roads for New Year’s Eve.

The storm exits by early Tuesday, but leaves behind very cold temps to start 2013.
