ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Local water skiers have been water skiing on New Year's Day in front of the Arch for 37 years.

New Years Day Temperatures in the 20's did not detour the handful of skiers from getting out on the river.

The New Years Day Polar Bear Ski was a fundraiser event for the Missouri Disabled Water-ski Association.

U.S. Water Ski Champion and Creve Coeur resident Kevin Day has been coming to this event for 27 years.

To date,  Kevin has raised over $86,000 for the charity.  The money raised is used to purchase specialized water-ski equipment for the disabled.
