ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A public memorial is set for Friday for singer Fontella Bass.  It will be at 7:00 p.m. at the Shalom Church City of Peace in Florissant, Missouri.

The St. Louis native died last week after suffering from a heart attack in early December.  Her 1965 hit, “Rescue Me” introduced her R&B and gospel voice to the world.  The 72-year-old singer got a spot on the St. Louis Walk of Fame in 2000.
