(KTVI) - NASA captured video of a solar eruption on New Year's eve. The plasma shooting from the sun's surface gracefully rose up from the sun twisting and turning. According to NASA magnetic forces drove the flow of plasma, but without sufficient force to overcome the sun’s gravity much of the plasma fell back into the sun.
The Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the four hour event. An image of the eruption was captured every 36 seconds and compiled into this video clip.
