Man Shoots Alleged Copper Thief With Shotgun

(KTVI)-A man is jail after he shot another man he says was stealing copper from his Affton property late Friday night. According to St. Louis Police, the property owner followed the alleged thief to South Broadway and Gasconade in St. Louis where he confronted him. When he attempted to detain the supposed thief, a fight broke out and the property owner shot the suspect in the shoulder with a shotgun.

The shooting victim, a 55 year old man, was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The 31 year old property owner is in police custody. Charges are pending.
