Guns And Hoses Donated $285K To Backstoppers

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) - A big donation for Backstoppers Wednesday.  Guns and Hoses Wednesday presented a $285,000 dollar check to the organization from their November boxing match that puts firefighters against police officers.

Guns n hoses board president David Stokes also made a surprise donation of another $100,000, bringing the total raised to $4 million dollars since the annual event began in 1987.

Backstoppers has been around for more than 50 years helping the families of firefighters, police officers and first responders killed in the line of duty in Missouri and Illinois.

Guns and Hoses is its biggest fundraising event.

Cardinal’s superstar David Freese is now on the board of Guns and Hoses.

In December there were four in the line of duty deaths of police officers and firefighters, two in Missouri and two in Illinois.
