ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – Just when gas prices started to drop they're on the rise yet again.

Last month we were actually seeing gas prices drop to below the three dollar mark, but in the last week they've climbed daily and now average around $3.48 in the St. Louis area, 10 to 20 cents higher in the Metro East because of gas taxes.

There appears to be a few reasons behind the hike at the pump, but AAA say’s it’s mainly because of 3 things:

Rising crude oil prices
Decreased gasoline supplies
Refinery issues

Generally, gas prices don’t begin rise till March, so the recent price rise observed n gas is attracting attention.

A gasoline shortage in California is adding to the latest surge in gas prices nationwide.
