ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The College Park neighborhood is part of St. Louis that's seen its share of crime recently. St. Louis police are making their presence known in a big way Wednesday.

After four shootings and three murders, St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson says it is time for a change in the College Park Neighborhood of north St. Louis.

This is what residents saw Wednesday morning. Officers gathered at the intersection of Emily Street and Desoto Avenue while Chief Dotson held roll call in the street.

As part of a homicide deterrent initiative, officers then left to knock on doors looking for witnesses.  Officers even had metal detectors looking for evidence.

Officers are still in the area.  Chief Dotson said neighbors can expect to see this strong presence until crime in the area drops.
