CASEYVILLE, IL (KTVI)-- Caseyville Police are looking for burglars who broke into 39 storage units over the weekend.

It all started at the Busy Bee Storage Yard on Main St. last Saturday. According to police someone in a red pickup truck drove to the gate, punched in a code and entered the property breaking into dozens of units. Detective Frank Moore with the Caseyville Police Department says it's an unusual crime for the area.

"We were able to get a good picture of the truck that committed the burglaries we need the publics help to locate this truck," said Moore.

Thieves came back Sunday morning and took more. Some of the units just had locks cut, while others had tools, collectibles and electronics stolen. Manager Jessica Shafer says they've been open since 2004 and never had any problems. All of the thefts happened over a 2 hour period

"Words can`t describe how mad I am about it is really just uncalled for. I don`t understand why anyone has to steal at all."

Shafer says weaker locks were targeted because stronger ones were harder to get into. Now managers are beefing up security and giving victims free locks to keep thieves from breaking in.
