Cardinals Beat Braves 5-4 in Jupiter

Matt Adams run scoring double in the bottom of the 8th inning was the winning hit in the Cardinals 5-4 win over the Braves on Thursday in Jupiter, Florida. This spring training game featured both pitchers vying for the fifth spot in the Cardinals starting rotation. Joe Kelly started the game and pitched four innings, allowing one run. Shelby Miller then came on to pitch after Kelly and allowed three runs in two and two-thirds innings pitched. Michael Wacha, the Cardinals top pick in last year’s draft pitched the final two innings to get the win.

As for the Cardinals offense in this game, in addition to Adams hit, Matt Carpenter had two hits including a two run triple that gave the Cardinals a 3-2 lead. Allen Craig and Tony Cruz drove in the other Cardinals runs with hits of their own.
