DETROIT, MI – A Detroit-area grandmother took the stand today in her own murder trial. Sandra Layne is accused of killing her 17-year-old grandson.

The 75-year old told the court that she was afraid of Jonathan Hoffman especially when he was angry.

Layne’s attorney says she shot her grandson in self defense after he kicked her in the chest.

Hoffman moved in with his grandparents while his parents were going through a divorce.
