Buzzer Beater Lifts Illini Over Minnesota 51-49

Brandon Paul’s jumper at the buzzer gave the Illini a 51-49 win in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday in Chicago. Illinois had built a 12 point first half lead, only to see it evaporate. D.J. Richardson hit a three pointer in the final minute to tie the game at 49-49. Paul scored 25 of the team’s 51 points.

Illinois advances to the Big Ten Tournament’s second round. They will play the top seed, Indiana at 11:00 AM on Friday in Chicago.
