Police Storm Home Of Hostage Situation

RAYMOND, IL. (KTVI) – Law enforcement officer from Montgomery County Illinois, Illinois State Police and Litchfield Police Department stormed the home of a hostage situation, to rescue two women Wednesday afternoon.  The hostage situation started just after 2:40 pm, in Raymond, Illinois when a female caller to 911, stated that she and another woman were endanger.

The caller said her son, William L. Groves, 22, of Raymond was on his way to the home to kill both women.

As the caller was talking to the 911 operator, Groves busted into the home, destroying windows and other items in the home; stating that he had a would kill the women if the police showed up and then start killing police officers.

Officers started arriving on scene cordon off the area, evacuating near-by residents.

After screams were heard from the residence, it was decided to enter the home.  Officers located Groves quickly and he was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation has revealed that Groves was a member of the Illinois National Guard and did have a firearm with him in the home.

Groves was taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where he has been charged with aggravated unlawful restraint and other felony charges.

No one was hurt in the incident.
