Fans Celebrate SLU Win At Chaifetz Arena Watch Party

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- San Jose is a long way for St. Louis University fans to travel to watch their basketball team.

Thankfully for the student body, faculty and alumni at SLU, they didn't have to.

Chaifetz Arena held an open to the public watch party for the Billikens NCAA Tournament second round game and this place was rocking like a home game.

For a brief moment it sounded like the NCAA Tournament tipped off at Chaifetz arena Thursday afternoon.

University alums, faculty and students were grateful to the school for saving them the money of travelling to San Jose, and giving them a big dance atmosphere to cheer in.

Of course there was a lot of energy over at the signature go-to spot to watch SLU sports, Humphreys, as the final seconds of the Billiken victory ticked off the clock.

Wherever SLU fans watched the game, they celebrated, celebrated a team that has rejuvenated a campus that has had its fair share of adversity throughout the school year.

The SLU staff released an official head count of the number of fans that filled the seats at Chaifetz Arena to watch the Bills defeat New Mexico state in round two, 1,100 fans cheered the bills on to victory Thursday.

The Billikens next game is on Saturday against Oregon in San Jose.
