JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – Arthur Gardner, 44, of St. Louis has been named a sexually violent predator by Missouri’s Attorney General.  He has been serving a ten year sentence for sodomizing a 7-year-old boy.  He has been previously convicted of sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl.

His designation as a sexually violent predator means that Gardner will be committed to a Sex Offender Rehabilitation and Treatment Service in Farmington.

In a release Attorney General Chris Koster says that, “It is important for individuals who are deemed sexually violent predators to get the help they need while the community is protected.”

Gardner will now be in the custody of the Missouri Department of Mental Health.  He has the right to have his care reviewed annually.

There are 196 committed sexually violent predators in Missouri.  This is the 5th commitment this year.
