(KTVI) – Missouri has an improving reputation when it comes to animal cruelty. We have certainly seen our share of puppy mill rescues and dogs that have been abused in urban neighborhoods, only to be cared for and nursed back to health by the Humane Society.

Photographer Mike Bizelli has captured the dramatic before and after pictures.  They'll be on display later this week and Mike brought some of those pictures to show us.

In images chilling to joyous to bittersweet, Cruelty to Compassion tells the stories of Trooper, Sonny, Twister, Tumbleweed, Marshall the Miracle Dog, Fay, Dharma and other animals rescued from abuse, neglect and natural disasters.

Bizelli and HSMO staff members will be on hand to answer questions. The event will also feature raffles, poster sales and “pet lover goody bags” for the first 500 attendees. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Missouri.
