Disney Closes Video Game Publisher LucasArts

(KTVI) – LucasArts, the video game publisher behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises is being shut down by Disney. According to online publication Kotaku the staff of 150 employees was laid-off this morning. Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313, the studio’s current projects, have been canceled.

Disney released a statement about the lay-offs to the public. They said, “We’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model.”

The video game publisher was acquired when Disney bought LucasFilm from George Lucas.
