Lightning Strike Reported at Praxair in Cahokia

CAHOKIA, IL (KTVI) – Fire crews responded to Praxair in Cahokia, Illinois after a possible lightning strike at the facility.

It happened about 7:30 a.m. Thursday as thunderstorms rolled across the St. Louis area. The Cahokia fire department called for backup from several other fire departments.

Crews were concerned with an area located behind the Praxair building at 9 Judith Lane in Cahokia.

Praxair supplies atmospheric gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon as well as related services and technologies.

In 2005, a massive fire erupted when tanks outside the plant appeared to explode.  it sent flames more than 150 feet into the air.
