Cardinals starting pitcher Jaime Garcia lasted just three innings in the Phillies 8-2 win over the Redbirds on Friday night in Philadelphia. Garcia got touched for five 1st inning runs. Two of those runs scored on Cardinals 3rd baseman Ty Wigginton’s throwing error. Carlo Beltran tried to get the Cards back into the game with a long solo home run in the 2nd inning to cut the deficit to 5-1. Matt Holliday also homered off Phillies starting pitcher Roy Halladay, but those were the only two hits Halladay allowed. The game was called after six and a third innings due to rain.
